April 2008

In the last years, EnAcción has had an important growth as a result of the joint effort between people who work in the organization, the community participation and the continuous support of those who cooperate.

We would like to give you a summary of our goals for 2008 and, as usual, pictures of different activities.

Best regards,

Luciano Iramain - General Coordinator

Goals and Challenges for 2008

In February reflection activities and training workshops were carried out.

Once a month, the team exchanges ideas in the General Meeting.

In 2007, there were more than 1200 families that participated in the various activities being carried out among the 25 hired people, 30 university interns and 90 volunteers who are part of the organization. These numbers, as well as positive, are a challenge to continue to guide growth in an orderly and efficient way towards the ultimate aim: to continue building a better place for everyone, next to the community!

For this matter, the main objective for this year is a major institutional consolidation of the organization.  Initiated in  2006, this path is led to form define, more solid and organized groups which optimize the performance to each program core  so as to give an adequate answer to the neighbourhood’s demands.

Following this line of action, in February, reflection and training activities were carried out with the participation of the internal team.  The six  four hour-encounters had the objective of understanding the origin, vision and purposes of the organization, knowing  its structure  and operation mode, as well as capitalizing the learning emerged from the practice. This space will continue in the monthly working meetings, where the different projects articulate, strengthening ties between teams, and forming a common view based on the collective contribution.

Another equally priority goal for this year will be to advance on the continuous involving of the participants in the different activities. Engaging people in collective activities, such as taking care of "El Campito" playground, where the sport teams practice, aims to transform each space in a community heritage. The communitarian events, as the “mateada” or “Family’s day”, are other examples in which the community becomes protagonist, feeling each space as a belonging place to enjoy together.

Finally, the relationship with other institutions, which values and actions are shared, will continue. This year, different activities will be developed with more than thirty institutions in the region (universities, schools, organizations, foundations and institutes) with the objective of adding further efforts to complement the work for the construction of a different reality for our neighborhoods.
