The “Young Mothers”, “New Women”, “Third Age”, and “Social Promotion Workshops” groups create – through education and learning spaces - belonging spaces that share the same objective: grow as a person and be part of the community development. The “Young Mothers” group gathers women from 18 to 25 years old who have been mothers at an early age. This space promotes education in issues such as nutrition in childhood, human beings’ dignity, inner feelings, family communication and addictions. Besides, it helps mothers in the selection and development of their personal projects. Throughout this year, dance classes, thematic lectures and craft activities, such as lining notebooks and painting jars, have been carried out. The “New Women” group provides tools for auto-evaluation and self-discovery through training workshops. This space allows women to share interests, wishes and problematic issues throughout its 3 years of duration. This year, the group carried out a workshop in crafts in paper and cold porcelain, and also examined issues such as anguish, depression and family bonds. The “Third Age” group – consisting of women of the Third Age – performs recreational and cultural activities. Thus, socialization and social inclusion are promoted to avoid isolation. Different activities were carried out in the first part of the year: singing lessons and birthday celebrations with cake, dances and games. At last, the “Social Promotion Workshops” are destined to more than 300 adults belonging to families of limited economic resources. These workshops, through thematic training, promote discussion, learning and the exchange of opinions about a variety of issues related to the district. Besides, the delivery of bags of food such as rice, polenta (cornmeal), noodles, flour and oil is aimed to strengthen the families’ diet. This service usually works as a bridge to other organization´s resources and services. Each of these spaces has coordinators, who have periodical meetings for education and planning purposes where every meeting is organized and assessed. There are also recreational and cultural trips to different places in order to keep strengthening the interpersonal bonds. In addition, each space actively collaborates with the organization of the district’s events through various suplementary tasks, contributing to the joint effort for the community development. |
