Given the painful murder of two young people in the neighbourhood on December 12th, the party was postponed for a week, and it changed its celebration nature to one of commemoration, a time to give support to the families and to recover public spaces.

On Saturday, December 20th, more than 500 people participated of the End of the Year’s party sharing food, music and a video that summarized each project activities was played.

From the youngest – with the “Games area”, through the youngsters with the "Football and Handball area" to the oldest people with the "Workshops for the Eldest”, each group had the chance to tell their experience throughout the year. Accomplishments and challenges for the new year were shared between food and sodas and the good moments of 2008 were remembered.

Following the idea of each area as a piece of a collective puzzle, the party symbolized the communal work in search of the same goal: "To create a better neighbourhood for everyone". Thus, every area conferred their personal style to the party with thankful messages, wishes and reflections like Ivana, from the Handball group, who wrote: “We shared moments that taught us how to grow as a group. We suffered defeats and disappointments but we could face them together”.

At the end of the meeting a video with images of the activities developed through the year was played. Each group saw their self in the video as a starring character of the daily educational work and cultural and recreational development, celebrating the past year and renewing the commitment to make a powerful start in 2009.
