April 2009

With this newsletter we resume contact to bring you the news of the activities that took place during these months. As a result of the evaluations of each space and a general diagnosis that proved the institutional strength level reached, we worked really hard to take a new step during the summer.

Therefore, since February, a new system to set forth the objectives was designed, through reflection, training and devising conferences with the coordinators of each project. This system allows us not only to improve the daily work by offering more usable spaces but also to measure the impact of each activity in a more effective and simpler way.

This meant a renewal of the commitment to offer spaces of a high quality comprehensive training. We are excited about the challenge and will work together to get the best results this year.

Best regards and wishes for this Easter,

Luciano Iramain - General Coordinator

PLANNING WORKSHOPS

Days of reflection and planning were held in February.

The aim for 2009 is fortifying analytical reflection and group development.

On the first fortnight of February 2009 the permanent team of this association held a four-day conference on education and joint development of projects with the participation of a Sociologist, specialist in community project planning. In this way, participants resumed the 2008 reflection forums to improve everyday practice and give projects professional status.

After receiving some training in planning methods, participants set the objectives of the three social work axis applying to each program, that is, education and training, arts and culture and sports and recreation. At this point, the leaders of each project exchanged ideas and opinions in order to maximize the interaction between different activities.

Besides, with the aim of promoting a more holistic approach for all participation areas, participants developed four dimensions for each program as follows: the technical dimension, that gives people tools for specialized training; the group dimension, that provides people with an opportunity to integrate and foster a strong sense of belonging; the community dimension, that promotes participation and commitment to our district; and the family dimension that is aimed at integrating parents and children into each activity.

Finally, the group established rates to evaluate the effects of each project and created tools to assess results in an accurate and permanent way. Working on every such aspect aims at designing new tools to improve the condition of the district.
